Il Ghiro
Il Ghiro is an organic B & B, not only because the rooms have been renovated and painted using Bio-building products, but also because of the delicious, organic breakfast ingredients that we offer. Most are fairtrade, seasonal, and local, they travel no further than 1 km from the farm to plate! thus ensuring a fresh and healthy morning refreshment. Upon request, we will happily prepare breakfasts for vegans, vegetarians and those with celiac. If your personal food needs are different, we will look for the solution together.
Proudly, we can arrange for you on request, to have the “Breakfast with the Commander“. Enjoy your breakfast with our father Com. Antonio Casanova, whilst he enthrals you with stories and anecdotes about the legends of our magical island.

Restructuring
The B & B was born in 2004 from an idea had by the two brothers Bruno and Salvatore Casanova, managers and owners of the “il Ghiro”. During the last century, the Casanova family house was one of the country’s tailor’s shops. Grandfather Bruno, in fact, established the tailor shop on the ground floor, which has now become the current breakfast room and the dwellings were on the two upper floors.
The building is one of the oldest in the country and its construction dates back to the late 1700s. In the façade, you can still see the juniper wood keys, bearing witness to ancient methods of construction. The house has been renovated following the green building standards, natural products have been used such as cork panels and insulating linen.
For the interior, we have used natural paints, made using vegetable raw materials and without petrol-derivatives. These allow the walls to breathe and have colors that are both relaxing and pleasant to the eye. Our commitment to the environment continues throughout the house by the use of biological detergents, energy saving products and a constant commitment to waste reduction.

Our location is also just a stone’s throw from the museum, monuments and salt pans where you can observe a vast array of birds including the beautiful pink flamingos.
The island of San Pietro offers wonderful free beaches, beautiful cliffs and unique geological features.
In the North-West of the island, it is possible to observe the marvellous Falco Eleonorae (falcon of the Queen) which stops on our island from April to October and then returns to Madagascar.
For lovers of trekking, we are ready to tell you the best routes so you can discover the most hidden corners of our island.
